Read the claim and response instructions
Record when the claim was received and the tribunal’s response deadline. Identify the correct legal respondent and who will coordinate the response. Seek advice promptly if the claim names the wrong organisation, documents are missing or an extension may be needed.
Prepare a focused response
Review each allegation against the records and explain what is admitted or disputed. Preserve relevant contracts, policies, pay records and communications. Use the correct ET3 submission route in the tribunal’s instructions and retain confirmation of submission.
Manage the case and any settlement discussion
Appoint a reliable contact, track tribunal directions and discuss representation, insurance and costs. Keep conciliation and litigation tasks coordinated. Do not assume that negotiations remove the need to file a response or comply with orders.
